Too late to find a word that's warm and kind

Continuing my trip back through the 1959 album charts.

25/10/59 : Look To Your Heart - Frank Sinatra

And after Elvis popped up, Frank had to put in an appearance, didn't he? This is our fourteenth visit with Ol' Blue Eyes - once again, I'm sure it'll be perfectly fine.

I actually couldn't find the album on my streaming platform of choice - further investigation reveals that this was one of four best-ofs he put out this year (which is not even close to the EIGHT he put out in '58) and there are only so many Frank best-ofs that Amazon can be bothered to store. In any normal year, I would have given up on it but this is not a normal year, so I found the tracks on yet another best-of, which was a mere 4.5 hours long. And it's mostly in his crooning mode - nicely done, but none of it really stood out from the (rat) pack. However, most of these tracks were apparently recorded between '53 and '55 and it's interesting how much better the sound quality is on this than it was on Elvis's recent offering.

We're at #10 in the charts again this week on his second week of a two week run - which was strangely his fourth and final run, all of which were two weeks, with #5 being as high as it got (I assume there were issues in getting stock over here). The top five this week were South PacificGigiPeter SellersMy Fair Lady and Russ Conway and we have a new entry for Duane Eddy (#6) but no named women in the chart.

Wikipedia doesn't have a load on the album other than telling us that the songs were arranged by our old mate Nelson Riddle who always did a decent job on these things. The only thing that jumped out at me was that the album is also available as part of the Capitol Years boxset which is 21 CDs and 13.5 years, sorry hours - I'm pretty certain no-one needs that much Frank in one go.

"Customers also listened to" - well, we'll never know but I think we can probably assume it's just other Frank albums. I like this general sound and his voice, but there were no top examples of the genre on this album for me - having had no Elvis or Frank for a bit, we've had pretty lazy compilations from both of them (or, more accurately, their record labels) but at least the sound quality here was decent.

04/10/59 - Well done, but not one of my favourites
01/11/59 - A disappointing compilation
